Though I have shifted from this kind of work and representation photographically, probably if I go this place now, I would approach in a different way, but still, I would love to have these photographs in my blog as I loved this village of potuas alias chitrakars (picture makers) located in the Pingla block of West Midnapore district.

This village of hardly 15-20 families is really popular and they have got exposure in West Bengal and outside including aboard for their art, culture, and work they do. And they are really progressive; people are camera friendly. There are very few villages in West Bengal where I have seen such a camera easy people and I loved that fact.

One more interesting thing – these families are Muslim; but their art, the images they make, the songs they write are inspired by Hindu mythological stories. This combination is unique and a phenomenon. At large, this is great evidence where Muslims and Hindus intermingled so nicely.

These families are Muslim, but their art and the paintaings they make, the songs they write are inspired by Hindu mythological stories.

If I count individual families, it might not look that great; there are such discrete families elsewhere in Bengal, but as there are 15-20 families all do the same work together – they got the popularity and exposure. Togetherness has power, it proves once again socially.
