We wanted to visit Mirror Lake, Lake Placid areas of Adirondack Mountains, upstate New York in the summer this year, but couldn’t go as the hotels were very costly especially where we wanted to stay, although it was mainly for our lack of proper planning. We visited that area before, around 2014, and we were staying in a hotel (High Peaks Resort) where we wanted to stay this time as well – we have some memories over there and wanted to have the vivid experience again. So, we booked the High Peaks Resort for the fall foliage – though we couldn’t afford the lakeside rooms where we stayed before, that’s okay. It’s hard to predict the exact fall foliage time – it varies year to year based on weather and other several conditions… but we decided to book on the 2nd weekends of October based on the past predictions. Somehow, it worked, I believe… and couldn’t expect more.

We are currently living in Liverpool, NY and from here Lake Placid is about 3.5 hours drive. We started on Friday morning and decided to avoid highways and rather we took countryside roads so that we can see the fall foliage very closely, and can have ample options to park the car on the roadside and take photos wherever we wanted. We were glad that we took the road and blessed with several wonderful views, colors, and patterns of the trees – it was a real treat to the eyes. We have seen fall foliage before, but not like this before – it was a feeling like everything was there for us, and we were spot on and it was the full bloom. Anyway, after 6-7 hours of travel including short breaks for coffee, lunch, and several photo sessions we reached our hotel at around 7 pm in the evening.

On Saturday early morning, I was driving alone and wanted to go to the summit of Whiteface Mountain, but when I reached over there got to know that the gate opens at 8:45 am which is kind of late for me as I wanted to have sunrise photos. Anyway, I drove here and there around the Whiteface Mountain region, stopped by some places to take some clicks, and made videos with my iPhone while driving (please don’t tell anyone J). After I reached the hotel we went back to Whiteface Mountain with Shaswati and Rhij. It was an almost full-day event – we returned in the evening and by that time the sun was already down and it was very cloudy and it rained for some time on that day.

On Sunday morning, Shaswati and I drove, again in and around the whiteface mountain area, we went to take some pictures. Rhij was in the hotel room, he is not keen at all on the morning ride. Yes, we got some good pictures I think and at that time I discovered a few good places which are perfect for landscape photographs – wish I could have discovered the locations on Saturday itself. Anyway, I took the shots when the sun was already high. Not that I do have such regrets, as we spend quality time with Shaswati and took some photos together. Reached hotel, we went to a Mini-Golf Course over there, Rhij desperately wanted to go there and we had a match with him. And then we headed for home.

Here are some clicks I would like to share with you.
